CHMM Essentials of Hazardous Materials Management Course Description:
This 3-day course offers a comprehensive review of environmental laws and regulations as well as a basic review of safety and health principles that you need as a hazardous materials manager. This course provides an excellent opportunity to review the three general categories that are covered on the CHMM Exam:
- Science and Technology
- Regulations and Compliance
- Management Issues
It provides an overview of major topics and issues involving hazardous materials management, and is an excellent way to prepare for the CHMM Exam. Many environmental professionals take the CHMM EHMM Course to satisfy training requirements, enhance competence in the profession, and obtain information regarding new rules and regulations. The EHMM is now accepted by the DOE National Environmental Training Office (NETO) and is listed in the NETO training catalog as a high quality training course.
A copy of the AHMP Desk Reference of Hazardous Materials Management is included in the cost of the course. After enrolling in the course, a confirmation letter and your copy of the Desk Reference will be mailed to you. In addition, a course manual will be provided on the first day of class.
Course instructors are practicing environmental professionals who have been selected from business, industry, academia, and government agencies.

The CHMM Exam is offered independent of the CHMM EHMM. The CHMM Exam is offered by the Institute of Hazardous Materials Management (IHMM) through approximately 200 testing centers throughout the United States. Tests are offered during "testing windows" occurring the last two weeks of odd-numbered months. The most convenient testing window for participants at this year’s course is November 16-27, 2009. EHMM participants may want to coordinate with a test center to arrange a testing appointment immediately following the EHMM Course.
